This site is dedicated to raise the awareness of need for blood stem cell and/or bone marrow donors. Patients around the world are presently in need of a matching HLA blood type donor to survive. Your HLA type may be the one to give a patient their only chance of living. Registering as a donor is simple and relatively safe, especially when considering you can potentially help save a human life. How often do we have an opportunity to make such a significant contribution?

National Marrow Donor Program Information
The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) helps people who need a life-saving marrow or blood cell transplant through an extensive network of U.S. and international organizations. Click here for more information about the NMDP.
This site has the best information on the many different ways you can help the cause. The most helpful would be to join the registry as a potential volunteer donor.
Patients need donors who:
1. Are between the ages of 18 and 60.
2. Are willing to donate to any patient in need.
3. Meet the health guidelines.
Before deciding to join, you should learn about the marrow and blood cell donation process. If you decide to join, you will then complete a registration form and answer questions about your health history. If you are eligible to be a donor based on your health history, you will then give a small blood sample or swab of cheek cells. This sample will be tested for your tissue type. Most likely you will be asked to pay for the cost of your tissue typing (tax deductible donation).

I am a 56 year old husband to a wonderful wife of 34 years, father to 2 great sons & their wives, & grandfather to 2 grandchildren. I’ve lived in Vancouver, WA since I was 6 months old and have been a Christian since 1973. My wife and I own a small manufacturing company which I ran until the end of May 2006. God willing I will be active there again soon. I am also looking forward to being back in ministry to help people get closer in their relationship to Jesus Christ and their loved ones. I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) on October 23, 2004. Talk about a wakeup call; it tested my faith and understanding of how fragile life is, and was a reality check as to what is most important for this one life I have on Earth. From October 2004 until May 2006, a drug called Gleevec kept my CML in check and life was pretty much normal. Then I got the call that my body had become resistant to Gleevec and my CML had entered a blast crisis stage. I’m currently in a drug study for a new drug called AMN 107. Hopefully it will return me to the chronic phase, and then the plan is to have a mini stem cell transplant which will permanently remove the Leukemia.
